Pay range: $23.39/hr - $32.75/hr
Night position, 10-hour shifts (2000-0630), scheduled 7-on-7-off (Wednesday to Tuesday)

Position Summary
The Pharmacy Technician helps pharmacists with the needs of our patients. Assists the pharmacist with the preparation of all medications, including sterile IV medications including TPN solutions, antibiotics, high risk medications, and batch preparation in a USP 797 compliant clean room. The technician distributes medications according to established procedure, maintaining adequate inventory levels and performs operational duties in a scheduled area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES –
Performed majority of the time:
· Excellent customer service skills to caregivers both inpatient and outpatient to meet the needs of our patients.
· Obtains pharmacist verification for all medications prior to delivering to patient
· Prepares sterile medications safely and accurately in laminar flow hoods per USP 797 and USP 800 regulations.
· Maintains adequate stock of IV room bulk medication.
· Interviews patients for medication admission histories.
· Responsive to the needs of our patients and nurses with excellent customer service.
· Process orders received from vendors (checking in items for good dating, and correctness, etc.).
· Take responsibility for communicating timely patient information to pharmacists as needed.
· Manages time for orderly completion of additional duties.
· Provides suggestions and opinions related to the department in an open and constructive manner.
· Uses Tray Checking technology to process used medication trays.
· Makes sure we have unit dose stock, by unit dosing bulk medications with packager for distribution.
· Maintains a clean and orderly work area.’
· Communicates with fellow technicians to collaborate on unaccomplished tasks that need to be done.
· Assists with extemporaneous compounding.
· Manages and refills medication stock in automatic dispensing machines in all patient care areas in a timely manner.
· Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients based on principles of growth and development and life stages.
· Answers telephone and conveys information in an accurate, timely manner identifying self as technician staff.
· Attends to customers at front window.
Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:
· Prepares and calls in drug orders in the absence of the Pharmacy Technician – Buyer.
· Trains and supervises Pharmacy volunteers.
· Prepares sterile Chemo therapy IV infusion and medications safely and accurately in Biological safety Cabinet, when Chemo tech is not present.
· Packages unit dose/ER take home medications and maintains records.
· Monthly outdates of medications. Divided up in sections for each technician to be responsible for.

· Graduate from an accredited technician training program strongly preferred.

· Three (3) years IV admixture experience, including chemotherapy, and one (1) year unit dose experience.
· Acute care hospital experience.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
Required
· Licensed Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPT) within the State of Oregon.
Preferred
· Current National Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT).
